Description

Suggestion for editorial change in Standard text:

A reviewer noted that british English uses "curly brackets", which is also unambiguous for the American ear. Apparently "curly braces" is not commonly used, US english would just use "braces" instead.

Suggestion: replace all occurrences of "curly braces" with "curly brackets". At first occurrence add a footnote that explains this language issue.

We use

square bracket to mean [ ]

and

curly braces to mean { }

and

parentheses to mean ( )

Since English would use "braces" the term "curly braces" would not be misunderstood, because English braces are always curly. At best it is a redundant adjective "curly", but adding the adjectives "curly" and "square" helps in disambiguating the meaning.
